A product card must provide enough information to decide which item deserves a closer look. A photo, short name and price alone may work for very different products, but are often insufficient for almost identical versions. Choose the card\u2019s content around the comparison the customer is making. The design follows the meaning of that information.<\/p>\n

Make distinguishing features visible<\/h2>\n

Ask which differences customers use to make an initial selection. These might be size, application, material or version. Do not automatically show every available attribute; a crowded card is hard to scan. Select the properties that actually distinguish products within this group.<\/p>\n

In a fictional store, three workbenches have the same colour and almost the same photo. Their differences are height, width and storage space. A generic title such as \u2018professional workbench\u2019 makes comparison difficult. A clear name and a limited set of consistent attributes help visitors see why the items are offered separately.<\/p>\n

Keep the order consistent across cards<\/h2>\n

If one card shows size first and another shows material first, visitors have to search again each time. Use the same content order and units for comparable products. Deliberately show missing information or adapt the presentation; do not invent an unknown value to make the card look complete.<\/p>\n

Assess the images too. A photo with lots of empty space beside a tightly cropped photo can suggest a size difference that is not real. Agree on the card image\u2019s purpose for each product group. An atmospheric image may be attractive, while a recognisable product view may be better for precise comparison.<\/p>\n

For online store design<\/a> should include a test with varied real products: long names, different prices and items with multiple versions. A perfectly populated demo card often hides the most difficult content questions.<\/p>\n

Match the action to the choice required<\/h2>\n

A product that first requires a version choice must guide visitors to that choice. An action that suggests immediate ordering may otherwise lead unexpectedly to another screen. Choose labels that match the actual behaviour and check that this behaviour works for the different product types.<\/p>\n

Price information must also fit the product model. A price range or an amount for a specific version needs explanation if the customer would otherwise expect one fixed price. Avoid a visually prominent low price that overwhelms the context needed to choose. The product card is the start of the ordering information, not a standalone advertisement.<\/p>\n

Test comparison as a task<\/h2>\n

Ask someone to find two products that meet a given need. Ask which attributes helped and what remained unclear. Do not point out where the required information is. Also watch whether they open a product to find essential basic information that could have appeared on the card.<\/p>\n

Collect product questions from customer conversations<\/a> to make test tasks more realistic. Repeated confusion about size or version may indicate a missing attribute in the overview. Check the underlying fact before changing the presentation.<\/p>\n

Record the chosen card content in the product brief, with examples of exceptions. Editors then know which data a useful overview requires. A successful product card does not say everything, but shows honestly and consistently which differences deserve a closer look.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
