Free shipping changes the price of delivery, but does not have to change the available delivery days. Yet the two choices can affect one another in an online store, for example when a discount code activates a different shipping method. Administrators should therefore test the combination before a promotion starts. Customers must understand which delivery option they are choosing and must not silently lose an earlier arrangement when shipping costs change.

Take a fictional online store where orders above a certain basket value receive free delivery. Below the threshold, a charge is shown; above it, the cost disappears. Planning continues to use the same delivery rounds. Record that as the expected outcome. Another store may tie free shipping to a limited delivery option. That can also be a deliberate choice, but customers must see the difference in time. Have marketing and planning confirm the same rule.

Check which method the store uses when the threshold is reached. A changed name or method can affect the integration with delivery selection. The existing Yindle delivery component is linked to the store’s configured fulfilment policy. A promotion that introduces a new shipping method therefore needs a separate check. Having a date picker does not prove that every discount or shipping plugin automatically interprets that method in the same way.

Create a fictional basket just below the promotional threshold and choose a delivery day. Then add an item that takes the order above the threshold. Check the charge, delivery method name and visible arrangement. Remove the extra item and assess the reverse journey. Customers must be able to see which choice is still valid and whether they need to choose again. A silently changed field does not provide enough guidance for an informed order.

Include a coupon too if it is part of the campaign. The relevant basket value may depend on the agreed discount policy. Define the expected outcome beforehand and let the store’s own WooCommerce configuration calculate the basket. This article does not design tax or accounting rules; the practical check concerns an explainable customer outcome. A staff member must be able to explain why shipping costs change without introducing an unintended delivery arrangement as well.

Review the test order, thank-you page and order email. Do they all show the same delivery method and the same meaning for the chosen day? Is collection still clearly distinguished when it is also available? Add a case where the customer deliberately switches to collection after choosing free shipping. The check must demonstrate that cost, fulfilment type and arrangement remain understandable together, even when the customer changes their choice during checkout.

Keep this test with the campaign preparations and assign an owner for questions after launch. Repeat it when thresholds, coupons or shipping methods change. For a coherent ordering journey, online store development is relevant. You can discuss the connection to a planning source through Yindle Connect. The result is a clear free shipping offer, while the chosen delivery arrangement demonstrably remains aligned with the delivery route actually configured.

Free shipping changes the price of delivery, but does not have to change the available delivery days.
