A mobile menu works well only when visitors can complete their task with it. Opening the menu and showing every link is a start. The real questions concern recognition, order and going back<\/a>: do people understand where a topic belongs, know where a link leads and continue without detours? Test with tasks that fit the website.<\/p>\n

Choose tasks that cover different areas<\/h2>\n

Include an exploratory task, a specific contact task and a task for a returning visitor. For example: finding which service fits an existing situation, discovering how to start a conversation and returning to support. Use real website information. An instruction such as \u201copen the menu\u201d tests a control, but not whether navigation helps the visitor.<\/p>\n

Have participants work on a phone and give no directions. Ask them to say aloud what they expect behind a label. Note where they hesitate. If someone chooses the wrong entry point, wait briefly to see whether the website offers a clear route back. Finding their way again reveals a lot about the structure\u2019s coherence.<\/p>\n

Check opening, choosing and returning<\/h2>\n

A mobile menu often occupies much of the screen. Visitors need to understand how to close it and whether an item opens a page or expands a submenu. In a fictional example, a service name and a small arrow have different functions. If that distinction is unclear, someone may repeatedly open an overview page while looking for a sub-service.<\/p>\n

Also look at what happens after a choice. Does the correct page appear at the top of the screen? Is it clear which section has opened? Does the menu unintentionally remain over the content? Then check the back button and a second menu choice. Navigation needs to work from a deeper article or directly shared link as well as from the homepage.<\/p>\n

Assess content and interaction problems separately<\/h2>\n

An unclear label needs a different improvement from a control that is difficult to tap. For each observation, record what happened and its likely cause. \u201cContact not found\u201d may mean the label is missing, off screen or located in a section the visitor did not expect.<\/p>\n

For website design<\/a> that precision helps identify targeted changes. Avoid immediately moving the whole menu structure when one word causes confusion. Conversely, a larger button cannot fix an illogical arrangement. Test the revised version with the same task to see whether the original obstacle has disappeared.<\/p>\n

Make the check part of ongoing management<\/h2>\n

A menu changes when new services or campaign pages are added. Define how many levels the structure uses and who reviews new entry points. After an addition, check that longer labels still fit and existing routes remain accessible. Assess both small and larger phones.<\/p>\n

Keep a short set of tasks with their expected destinations. The team can then compare later changes without setting up a new study each time. Include the route to contact<\/a> in the checks too, including what happens if someone switches service along the way.
