When several customers want to pay at once and only one terminal is available, a queue forms in the workflow. Employees need to know which order is next and whether the device is still handling an earlier attempt. A clear counter procedure matters more than clicking faster. A scoped terminal pilot needs a design that keeps the queue visible without mixing up orders or customers.<\/p>\n

Make the order at the counter clear<\/h2>\n

In a fictional collection shop, employee A helps a customer with an order while employee B opens the next order. Both see the same terminal on their screens. Agree who oversees the payment in progress and when the next order may follow. A physically free device and completed order processing do not always coincide. The working agreement therefore needs to reflect the verified outcome of the existing attempt and the information available on the counter screen.<\/p>\n

Start a pilot with a limited, clear situation. The existing Yindle terminal component provides a basis for connected order payments, but that does not demonstrate a general queue for several simultaneous employees. Record which concurrent use is supported. If the initial setup uses one supervised payment at a time, make that visible in training and work allocation. An employee must not discover the limitation only when a customer is already standing at the device.<\/p>\n

Make waiting a clear state<\/h2>\n

An employee whose turn has not yet come needs to help the next customer without starting another payment request. This might involve checking the order and preparing the collection context. Use an agreed signal or overview for the sequence, suited to the scale of the counter. The solution need not be complicated, but it must prevent two employees using the same terminal based on different assumptions.<\/p>\n

Tell the customer what is happening in plain language. \u2018The previous customer\u2019s payment is still being completed\u2019 may be appropriate when that is actually the situation. Do not give a technical cause if it has not been established. The employee remains responsible for the conversation. If the earlier attempt is unclear, follow the agreed recovery route and let the responsible colleague assess whether the counter can use another supported approach.<\/p>\n

Test a busy period with two employees<\/h2>\n

Use fictional orders and let two colleagues start almost simultaneously. Observe whether they recognise the sequence, keep the correct order in front of them<\/a> and associate the device with the right customer. Add a delay to the first exercise. The second employee then needs to know what they can prepare and which action must wait. This trial tests actual collaboration and reveals which information is missing from the screen.<\/p>\n

After the exercise, check that each attempt can be traced to the correct order and that employees reach the same conclusion about the payment outcome.
