A faulty or relocated payment device can be replaced while the online store continues to show the same terminal function. Employees need to know which physical device now belongs to the workstation and how the payment flow has been checked. The management task therefore consists of recognisable assignment, an agreed trial and a proper handover. Placing a new terminal is only the start of the transition to a usable payment point.<\/p>\n

Record what is being replaced<\/h2>\n

In a fictional collection shop, a replacement device arrives for the main counter. The old device temporarily remains in the office. Employees must not be able to confuse the two. Create an overview of the workstation, intended terminal and date of first use. Use recognisable labels that match the shop\u2019s setup. Let the responsible administrator determine how the new assignment is carried out under the applicable device and provider procedure.<\/p>\n

Also check whether the replacement affects only hardware or changes the operational route. A different device in the same place is not the same as a terminal now shared by two counters. Then review how the outcome is found against the correct order. An employee must not assume that all order processing is complete based on a sound or screen message alone. Payment status should follow only from verified provider information and a matching amount and currency. The replacement trial also needs to include an interruption, making clear where an uncertain outcome is investigated. The basic function does not replace that operational acceptance.<\/p>\n

Hand the change over to every shift<\/h2>\n

Show employees which device is now used and which instructions are outdated. Update the opening instructions<\/a> and any internal images. Agree what happens to open cases involving the old device. They must not disappear from the daily overview merely because new hardware is present. A payment and its order reference remain relevant context for follow-up, regardless of the terminal later placed on the counter.<\/p>\n

Finally, check that the name in internal instructions matches the label employees see at the workstation. A technically correct assignment can still cause confusion if everyday recognition has not caught up.<\/p>\n

Complete the change with a short record of the chosen assignment, the check performed and the contact for questions. An appropriate management workflow with custom software<\/a> can be discussed.
