Never restore a shared or saved basket without checking it.<\/strong> Treat the saved selection as a request, but let WooCommerce check again on restoration whether the products exist, how many are available and which prices, taxes and discounts currently apply.<\/p>\n

Basket information changes. Between saving and opening it, a product may have been removed, a variation replaced, stock reduced or a campaign ended. A technically perfect copy of the old basket can therefore be commercially or operationally incorrect. Restoration needs to make differences visible and keep the customer in control.<\/p>\n

Save identity and choices, not yesterday\u2019s truth<\/h2>\n

Restoration requires stable product and variation identifiers, quantities and relevant configuration details. You can keep an old price to highlight a difference, but not as the automatic checkout amount. Let the current product catalogue be authoritative. The same applies to stock: a previously selected quantity is not a reservation unless you have explicitly built a stock process for it.<\/p>\n

This is especially important for composite products. The main product may still exist while a selected accessory has disappeared. Treat the configuration as a coherent whole. Explain which line differs and prevent an incomplete package from being ordered unnoticed. Make the message useful for the task. \u201cThe line could not be added\u201d offers little help. \u201cThe blue Nova chair is no longer available; choose another colour\u201d explains exactly what is needed. After restoration, show one summary of all changes so the customer does not have to inspect every line.<\/p>\n

Decide in advance whether restoration must be all-or-nothing or may be partial. Half a basket may be useless for a gift set with exactly six components; partial restoration can be helpful for a shopping list. Define the rule for each product type<\/a>. Never silently add an alternative after a partial restoration. A similar item, different size or different colour may have a different functional or contractual meaning and therefore requires a deliberate choice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fictional example: parts for a service team<\/h2>\n

Installation company Helder Klimaat saves a monthly parts list. In October, the team leader opens September\u2019s basket. Twelve units of one filter were selected, but only eight are still available to sell. The old unit price has also changed and a temporary coupon has expired.<\/p>\n

The online store adds eight filters, keeps the other valid lines intact and shows three changes at the top. The team leader can accept the shortfall or look at a replacement filter. Only then does he confirm the basket. The basket totals are rebuilt completely, including tax and shipping.<\/p>\n
